Okay, so we are getting close to the New Years and what better time than to start making some goals to get to that point where you want to be in your Life.

Many of us want to make more money , many of us want to spend more time with our loved ones, many of us want to shoot for that job promotion, many of us want to rekindle long lost relationships with past friends and lovers, and many of us just want to get into good shape and get lean and mean. :)

Now out of all those I think more people would say that the most popular one that everyone is striving for is the last one. And you know what I would have to agree with you.

Losing weight and staying healthy is something that most in our Society want. And with the New Year what better time to start this endeavour.

Let me start off by saying I think one of the worst ways to approach getting healthy and slim is to start a New Years crash diet. Low and behold we see literally thousands upon thousands of people doing this year after year. Getting on that liquid diet or herbal tea diet. And you know what happens most of the time with these crash dieters ?? They will lose 10 or 20 pounds in 4 weeks but then take a look where they are in 6 months. Usually, they have not only gained back the 10 or 20 lbs in that time but they have gained an additional 10lbs or so on top of that.

I have found this to be a continuing theme in the crash dieter’s experience.

Nope, the best way to get slim is to start inward and educate yourself on how to eat healthy and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This involves subtle but important changes in your whole approach towards Life.
Like eating lean proteins and lean fats with vegetables and whole grains and snacking on items like low salted nuts, almonds,and fruits.

Along with this it is paramount that you develop a long term exercise regimen. If all you can do is Walk that is perfectly find. But do the activity on a weekly basis for many years to come. Thing long,long,loooooooong term !!!

Anyway, there is just no getting around these two important issues. I look forward to talking about them more in 2010 and sharing my experience with all you guys out there.

I tell you what I believe that all forms of exercise when done in a consistent and timely manner will produce good results for someone trying to lose weight and stay healthy. But ,for me at least, Running is one of those exercises that take my Mind and Body to the highest levels.

Case and point last night. I went out right before it got dark here in the Desert for a nice run. I went for 45 minutes and it was an incredible feeling as I felt stronger than I have felt in years. And the longer I ran the stronger I felt.
Well, for those of you who may not know what I experienced last night it is called Runner’s High !!

Your body gets into a rhythm and your Mind and Spirit gets into a comfortable zone and you feel as though you can sprint for miles and miles without slowing down. Its really an incredible feeling.

I encourage you guys to at least give Walking a chance as something that can be part of your regular exercise regimen. As you Walk more and more for a number of months during each Walk pick up the pace and maybe jog for a few hundred yards. Do this each time you got out Walking and each time increase the distance that you jog. After awhile you will be just jogging and that’s it.

Once you start to jog you will see the many benefits to your health and weight. Word of warning though be sure to jog on softer surfaces whenever possible. Try to minimize the amount of time you jog on hard asphalt as this will decrease injury to your knees and other joints.

Anyway, I hope this gives you a little motivation to at least try some jogging as part of your Lifestyle.

It will go a long way in giving you a happier and healthier Life !! ;)

Wow, its been a long two weeks away from my Blog here. I hope you guys had a terrific Thanksgiving. I know my Wife, daughter , and I had a really good one with her family in Texas !!

I have to admit I threw down some serious chow last week. But you know what ?? I managed to get three full Runs while I was there. And that was my goal. So I was proud of that fact.

Exercising with a regular regimen is one of the Keys in staying lean and healthy. There is just no getting around that. Even if it is just walking twice a week. If you can do that for years and years every week and eat sensibly then you are going to be slim and feel good !!

Okay, so the Christmas Season is upon us. I just want to ask you guys what measures are you gonna take to make sure you dont overindulge at that Office party or at the Movies here in the next month??

Well, just keep this in Mind that maintaining a healthy weight is a long term process and every single slip you have will make it that much harder to reach your goals.

So be sure to refocus your Mind and Spirit for the next couple of weeks because there will be temptation. And if you can make it to New years without too many slip ups then you are on your way to much Success !! :)

I know many of you guys dont think you have the willpower to do this. But believe me if you are reading this Blog you are taking the first step in having a healthy and lean body !! And it is just a matter of your self conscious constantly reassuring yourself that it can be done.

So just hang in there !! ;)
