Hello guys. This will be my last Post for a few weeks til after Memorial Day. I am currently training for my annual 10K that I have run for several decades now.

My training has been pretty good as of late. I manage to get in at least two 35 minute runs a week while working out twice a week with weights on the Total Gym. On top of this I do brisk Walking/Hiking of at least 5 times a week with my daughters and wife.I must say having two young kids alone provides a pretty good workout ! ;)

Summer is pretty much upon us , and I know many of you are trying to get in top shape especially for the swimming season. Incidentally, swimming is probably one of the best exercises overall for getting in really good shape. One of the reasons why I prefer swimming to running is the benefits it has on your joints. With running over time you will notice your knees, back, and other areas of your body taking a toll because of the pounding associated with the activity. In swimming this is not the case as the lessen gravity provides less pounding on these joints of your body.

I really need to get back into swimming laps like I did last Summer. Especially since we have a nice pool at our home.

One last thing and then I gotta go. Remember guys as I have ALWAYS said on the Blog here that losing weight and getting healthy is a lifelong commitment. Dont expect to get where you want to be in just a few months. It may take over a year or more to get to your goals. And once you do get to that point that you are happy…………well the battle has just begin. Because you have to continue doing that. This is where most people fail. They get complacent and fall back into their reckless lifestyles and become more obese than before.

Think Marathon and NOT Sprint, folks. Its  mentality more than anything. And once you embrace that mentality of eating right and exercising regularly then your Life will truly start to change and you will see the results !!  Trust me.

Hey guys. Hope you are having a good Spring or shall I say Summer here in just a few weeks !!  ;)  Today I want to briefly talk about a new Workout that is becoming more and more popular amongst  mainstream Society !!

Its callled the 10 Minute Workout and it really is a revolutionary exercise regimen.

In this Post I will give a general overview of the 10 Minute Workout and later on in thre future we will talk about it in more detail.

Basically its also known as the 4-3-2-1- Workout.

1. Thats 4 mintues of high intesity Cardivascular exercise. This could be jump roping, running, rowing, swimming etc… And in this    4 minutes it breaks down to  30 seconds of moderate activity, then 30 seconds of high intenstiy activities and repeat thisl over until you get to 4 minutes. This is anaerobic activity which means you are expending energy at a rate higher than what your body can consume the necessary Oxygen. Hence, the heavy breathing you will be experiencing during this time. Because of this you will raise your metabolic rate and as a result your  body will keep burning calories long after this Workout is done. This is a great fat burning activity, for sure !! ;)

2. After this you go directly  to the second part of the Workout which is 3 minutes of Resistance exercise. This can be light free weights, push ups, pull ups, bowflex etc… The breakdown for this is 30 seconds first exercise, 30 seconds second exercise. then 30 seconds final exercise.

3. After this go into the third part of the exercise which is strengthening of your Core body. These are is the Trunk, Abs and Posture. This can include crunches, sit ups , resistance ball etc.. Do two exercises at one minute each using correct form while doing as many reps as possible.

4. The Fourth and final  part of the 10 minute workout is Stretching and deep breathing. This is so important especially as your body and mind ages.

This is a quick Overview of the 10 Minute Workout and I have NOT personally performed this Workout. However,  I am studying and getting more knowledge about this seemingly really beneficial and convenient  Workout !!

Well guys it has been pretty hectic in my household lately. As many of you know we have a 2 month old and a 17 month old. For my wife and I its non-stop changing of diapers, rocking babies to sleep, feeding, cleaning up messes etc..etc..

I tell you what having two kids that are so close in age is tougher than I thought. But it is well worth it !! :)

Anyway, both my wife and I have still been able to continue our exercise regimens. My wife is really making me proud the last 3 weeks. She is doing the Elliptical 2 times a day everyday. I tell her to NOT overdo it but she insists on jumpstarting her exercise program with these frequent workouts.

Myself ?? Well , I am still doing my twice a week Running and twice a week on the Total Gym and probably about 5 times a week brisk walking and hiking with my daughter ! It works for me.

Oh and by the way I am getting prepared to run the Expo 10k road race on May 29. I have run it 32 times in a row since 1978 !! This will be my 33rd year and I started the first one when I was just a little boy. I really look forward to it , and I am trying to convince my wife to do the 5K.

I will let you know some of my routine here in the next few weeks in preparation for this 10k. Honestly, I will probably keep up what I have been doing. I may add a extra run here each week. We will see.

Summer is just around the corner so now is a great time to hit those treadmills, get out those running shoes, and dust of those bikes. Life is too short not to.
