Dont be fooled by people who say you have to have a 5 or 6 day intense workout every week. The fact of the matter is if you do things smartly you can get away with just 2 days of exercise a week. Its all about keeping things in perspective and keeping an even balance between how much you workout and the calories you take in during the week.

There is absolutely no doubt that if you can fit 5 days working out a week then more power to you as it will take you very far in Life.  But most of us just do not have lives that will accomodate that much exercise per week. Hey guys we went back to our Home for a couple of days to check on our house and take care of some business. Wednesday night while I was there  I went running in the Mountains around our home for about a 40 minute run. It was a good evening with a little humidity but I felt really, really strong. I even started sprinting in the last few hundred yards of the run. The desert is usually dry where we live so it was nice to have a little moisture in the air.

One of the most surprising benefits I’ve discovered for being engaged to a gal from the Middle East, other than the vast cultural exchange, is the cooking.

Oh, yes ladies… my gal COOKS!

Which is good since I am a lousy cook. : )

Hanna enjoys it… and she brings a Middle Eastern flair to some really boring fitness/bodybuilding foods that I want to share with you today.

As some of you know my wife and two daughters and I are commuting and staying with my Wife who is a traveling nurse. So we are over two hours from our Home in a little 2 bedroom apartment they put us up in. Its nice here but I am limited to many things that I cannot do when back at our home.

One of those things is having access to my Total Gym. If you dont know what the Total Gym is then you must have been sleeping under a rock the last 15 years or so. :) The Total Gym is the portable exercise contraption that Chuck Norris and Christy Brinkley have been promoting for many years now.   You know those late night infomercials that they are so famous for doing.

I was introduced to the Total Gym over 11 years by one of my good friends in Florida. I had always been a ‘ free weight guy’  so when my friend brought it out of his room I just rolled my eyes. I figured the Total Gym couldn’t be nearly a good of a workout as free weights.

Well, after 45 minutes of working out on the Total Gym with my friend I was hooked !! It worked out muscles I didnt even know I had or used. The bottom line is the Total Gym is and can be a good workout for anyone who is at any level. No question about it !!  Its for competitive bodybuilders, Runners, Swimmers, housewives, obese people etc..etc.  and most anyone who wants to put on some lean muscle  or just  firm up their body a little bit while getting a great cardiovascular workout. I characterize it best as being Circuit training on steroids, so to speak.

Anyway, I wanted to get this feeling of missing my Total Gym out of my system so I decided to Blog about it today. If any of you ever get a chance to get a Total Gym do NOT hesitate . You will not be disappointed as it is a very effective training tool for all your workout needs !
