I know as a young boy and even now sometimes I get so hungry that I scrape down my meals in a way that my Dad refers to as “the steam Shoveler ” :)  Like I am literally placing my mouth at the end of the table and just shoveling my meal in the most anxious way. lol

I have learned over the years that eating slow has quite the benefits that everyone should consider. Taking small, slow bites of food can be beneficial to your digestive system, And eating at a rapid pace can cause indigestion as it takes about 15 or so minutes for you digestive juices to kick in.

And I have noticed when I eat slower I tend to have a fuller sensation than if I eat real fast. And guess what peeps this is an indirect way to lose weight ! ;) If you feel fuller you will not keep going back to eat more and more . There has been studies like at the University of Rhode Island that have shown the slower you eat the less you will eat in the future and consequently the less caloric intake.  I dont now about you but that sounds like this all comes down to losing more weight. Which is obviously but a good thing !!

Here are a few tips to eat more slowly:

1. Chew at least five times before you swallow.

2. Put down your fork and knife after every swallow

3.Do not talk to friends with food still in your mouth.

4.Vary your diet as this will make you eat more slower in savoring the new food

5. Before eating take a deep breath and relax as this will get you in a calm mode before taking that first mouthful.

My Grandmother was one of the slowest eaters I have ever witnessed in my Life. I remember when we went to the Cafeteria it would literally take  one hour to eat on account of her.

BTW, She  lived til 93 tears old !!
