Here is a list of foods that will give you more of those unwanted cravings which in turn will cause more fat in the belly and all around the body !!
1. Fruit Juice – Many people say fruit juice is good for you because it has antioxidants such as vitamin c for overall good health. But the fact is they are loaded with high fructose syrup and are full of sugar.
So the level of good you get from antioxidants from juice will be completely offset by the sugar. This sugar in turn causes your blood sugar to increase and your cravings to increase…..and bottom line your belly fat will skyrocket !!
So what do you do ?? You should eat actual fruit to curb the increase of blood sugar in your system !!
2. White bread – This form of food is completely without any nutrition and acts as pure starch and as a result increases your blood sugar and as we have seen increases cravings and belly fat !!
Stay away from white bread and look for alternatives like whole grain wheat bread !!
3. Majority of cereals – Most cereals are loaded with sugar. And most people eat multiple servings of it and wonder why just a few hours later they are craving more food.
Try cereals that are higher in fiber and minimal on sugar. For every gram of fiber have 5 grams of sugar ;this should be a minimum !
Alternative to cereal are wholesome foods such as natural oatmeal sprinkled with some blueberries or strawberries. Just be sure to avoid the instant oatmeal , it is loaded with sugar !!
Be smart with your diet. This stuff above aint rocket science !! It is basic, principle dietary jargon that you can implement into your lifestyle and ultimately lead to a slimmer and healthier you !!
Be proud of your body and be proud of what you put into it !!
Cheers to your success ,

Hey guys many of you know that I have been a Runner for a large part of my Life. Well, actually since I was old enough to barely tie my shoes. My next door neighbor and my Dad got me into Running which gradually evolved in Road Racing and in particular 10Ks. For those of you who may not know 10Ks are 6.2 miles long. And I have been competing in them for over 3 decades now !!
I have always enjoyed the freedom and flexibility of just slipping on my running shoes and cranking out a 5 miler around my neighborhood. The thrill of getting a great sweat and a good cardivascular workout has never left me as each week I look forward to getting out and hitting the pavement.
Ah, the pavement. Here in lies the problem with running. As much as there is positive effects running long distances have there are some drawbacks particular if you run on pavement. I have been running on roads for many years now, and it can cause many joint problems that affect your knees, ankles, legs, achilles tendon, feet, back and more. I have been fairly lucky to have an occassional achilles tendon flair up. But the past few years it has stabilized. Others around me including that neighbor who got me starting in running, my dad, my father in law and other professional road racers have not been so fortunate.
The fact of the matter is if you constantly run on pavement over a period of years you will see some detreriation in your joints , back, or feet. The pounding with each step on asphalt will evetually wreak havoc on your body parts.
Thats why I am really concentrating on running on dirt paths, tracks and doing other cardivascular exercises like Swimming, hiking, and Biking.
The next half of 2010 I plan to really take this to a new level and start weening myself off running on pavement. Fortunately, I have escaped many injuries because my natural running style does not involve a high up and down movement of my trunk with each step that pounds on the pavement. Thus I do not have a lot of force coming down hard on the roads with each stride !!
IF some of you do wish to continue making road running your major source of exercise I highly encourage to adopt a style where you will NOT pound your legs hard on the pavement.
Picture how a chicken runs and try to emulate that !! Sounds silly but honestly that mental image should give you an idea what I mean !!

Okay guys I had a killer workout today on my Total Gym. Unless you have been living under a rock the last 15 years most of you all know the Total Gym is that exercise contraption that Chuck Norris and Christine Brinkley have been heaping praises about on late night infomercials for quite some time.
So is it just hype ?? I think you can find the answer to that when you look at Chuck Norris and his 70 yr. old Body. Yes, thats right Chuck turned 70 in March of this year. Prettty incredible, huh ??
Need more proof ? Well, after using it for 3 years myself now I can honestly say it is NOT hype but for real. The Total Gym will give you the workout that will produce lean muscle mass and burn the fat also. You can use it like circuit training and really hit both of these areas quite effectively.

I think a nice brisk Walk which I did later in the day after my Total Gym workout is quite an effective exercise regimen. personally I use the Total Gym one time a week and its about a 45 minute strenuous workout. Along with this I will do one other Workout that is composed of pushups, sit ups , pull ups etc..etc.. It is what I call my mini workout.
Remember guys as I have said over and over again it is about adopting a exercise lifestyle that you can manage to do week after week after week after week. If you can only Workout once a week with resistance then just do once a week.
But dont start off going in the Gym Working out 4 times a week and expect to keep that up for the long term. Chances are you wont and you will more than likely just quit altogether after you burn out. Its about pacing yourself and finding a SYSTEM that works for you.
Until next time guys, keep it churning and burning !!
Cheers to our Success,
Robert Andrew

Okay guys, I know that many of you took time out at the beginning of the year to set New Year Resolutions. And of course one of those being to lose weight
There are four basic underlying factors that cause obesity in people : lack of sleep, chronic stress, processed foods, and copious amounts of sugar.
First of all, lack of sleep affects two hormones, ghrelin and leptin. Ghrelin stimulates appetite and leptin tells us when we are full. When we do not get sufficient sleep our ghrelin levels rise making us feel hungry. Lack of sleep also lowers leptin levels and as a result we dont identify when we are full. The combination of these two effects makes us have an increased appetite with no clue of knowing when to stop.
Under stress, we release the hormones cortisol, norepinephrine, and epinephrine which power our fight or flight response to perceived danger. With persistent or constant stress our cortisol levels remain high. This continued elevation in cortisol levels results in prolonged appetite and overeating.
In America we process foods to a degree that is so unhealthy. Processed food typically contain refined carbs, sugar, bad fats and oils, chemicals , and excitotoxins. Collectively, these substances cause the release of the
‘feel good ‘ neurotransmitter called dopamine. When we experience this dopamine and it makes us feel good , we want more of that good feeling so we eat more processed foods as a result. And it becomes a viscous and self destructing cycle.
Our consumption of Sugar had steadily increased every year in the last century. High Fructose corn syrup is one of those harmful sugars that is used to sweeten various food and liquids like soft drinks.
When it comes down to it folks, in order to lose weight and get healthy you need hormone and neurotransmitter balance, no toxic overload, and a elimination of processed foods from our diet. Along with this you also need to implement an exercise regimen on a weekly and monthly basis.
Essentially , this is really the only way to achieve the results many of you are looking for !!

Can you believe its the first week of Spring. Wow, time flies. I am still getting used to it being a new year !!
Well, now that the Sun is out and the warm weather is starting to peek its nose into our midst, it is a perfect time to really consider getting in shape and losing weight.
Just a few quick tips here to get you started :
First of all, think of implementing an exercise regimen that you can stick with for decades. Thats right I said DECADES !! The reason being is that I see so many people who get excited when they first start to get in shape and lose weight. They go to the gym working out hours at a time 6 days a week. You know what happens ?? After a few weeks or months they get burned out and bored and just flat out give up altogether.
Then they go back to their old ways and put on even more weight and fat.
Here is what you need to do. Go out and Walk at a brisk pace for 30 minutes at a time for 2 days a week. After a few weeks you may want to increase to three days a week and move up to 45 minutes each Walk. Now, do this for a few months and then re-evaluate your situation. If this is the most you can do , then STICK with it. If you can do a little more then go for it.
The Point being that you should be doing an exercise regimen that you can do week in and week out for many years.
This will help maintain your current weight and strenghten your Heart and Muscles.
Guys, its all aout finding the Regimen that suits your personality and then planning a long term implementation of that regimen into your Lifestyle. Whether that be Swimming , Biking, Running, Walking etc..etc..
Remember the Race is not always won to the swiftest but those who keep on Running.
